I believe that this painting of the Battle of Little Big Horn will help immensely with the reader's comprehension of High Elk's Treasure.  You will know of a hardship that Native Americans went through to survive, and have many more generations.  You can also visualize the artifact that was inside the parfleche, because this painting is almost the same thing.  It is a work of art portraying the battle.  You can also see General Custer in the center.  You can also see many dedicated Native Americans and soldiers fighting for their lives and their future.

When I first saw this painting, I was shocked.  There are dead and dying things all over.  Most of the horses, Custer's men and the Indians were bloody. It is also very graphic.  You can spot out a man pummeling a Native American with the butt of his rifle, and some very ruthless Native Americans as well.  When I saw the American flag flying in the back, I was confused.  The soldiers are flying the flag while killing the country's first inhabitants.  That doesn't sound very patriotic.  As most battle scenes look, this was a big mess.  Everyone was fighting for their lives, and you can see even more of Custer's soldiers coming to the battlefield.
